UNLESS YOU ARE NOTIFIED BY YOUR INSTRUCTOR PRIOR TO THE LESSON the lesson will proceed. As drivers we have to drive in all weathers: Ice, rain, fog, snow and the Instructor will only cancel lessons IF IT IS UNSAFE to continue teaching for someone at your level of experience.

Licences & Fitness to drive

  • You must hold a valid provisional driving licence or a full UK driving licence, to start lessons.  This will need to be checked on your first lesson and should be carried with you on all lessons.
  • An online licence check will also need to be conducted for all new learners.  Your instructor will provide you with the DVSA link to generate a code.
  • It is your responsibility to arrive for your lesson fit to drive. You should not be under the influence of any alcohol or drugs. If you are on any prescribed medication please seek medical advice as to whether it is safe to drive while taking them. Your instructor reserves the right to cancel any lesson at any time if the pupil is unfit to drive due to drink, drugs or prescribed medicine, fatigue or unfit for any other reason or condition that would cause his/her driving to be dangerous or illegal. In such circumstances the lesson fee will be payable in full.
  • If you become unwell due to something minor like sore throat/cough but feel ok within yourself and able to do your lesson please inform your instructor at the earliest convince, your instructor may ask you to wear a face mask to prevent spreading anything to themselves or the other pupils that use the car.

If however you have something more serious like a flu/Covid/sickness & diarrhoea, and think you are contagious, then once again please inform you instructor ASAP and cancel your lesson for that week, please remember that our 48hr cancellation notice is still valid in this situation.

  • If you require glasses to read a car registration plate from 20 meters these must be worn on every lesson, it is your responsibility to ensure you eyesight is up to standard.

Theory & Practical test booking

  • Your instructor can book either of these on your behalf.  We do have access to tests within a longer time frame, however, there are numerous test booking apps available which will give you up to date and quicker availability than using the DVSA website.  These will usually incur an additional charge.  Your instructor will not charge an additional amount over the standard booking fee for a test, which is required in advance of them booking it.  It is your responsibility to check with your instructor BEFORE booking a test, to ensure you are at the required level and have also checked their availability to take you to test (if applicable).
  • D2S vehicles used for test will be road worthy and of legal requirement set out by the DVSA.

Any mechanical issue prior to test which results in the learner losing their test slot, will be re-paid by the instructor, including the lesson time payment.  Any vehicular failure during the test is not the responsibility of the instructor and therefore non-refundable.

  • Moving test dates can be done via the DVSA or swapping with other learners/instructors via social media (please see your instructor for details).  If your test is moved under suggestion from your instructor, it is your responsibility to ensure you book available lessons, or spend time practicing in your own car, in order to get to the required test standard.  If adequate practice and progress has not been made, then your instructor will require you to move the test date again.

Your tuition vehicle & Instructor

  • The tuition vehicle is equipped with both front and rear facing dash cameras. These cameras are fitted for safety and insurance purposes. They only record external images and do not record internal footage.  They do however, record internal audio.
  • The vehicle will be taxed, insured and meeting all relevant legal requirements for tuition of learners.  All vehicles have dual control pedals fitted.
  • Pupils who require tuition in their own vehicle must supply evidence from their motor insurer that the car is covered for lessons when being supervised by a professional instructor in return for payment; the car must also be taxed and hold a current MOT certificate where appropriate. If a pupil wishes to use their own car this must be agreed by the instructor in advance. Lesson prices remain the same in any circumstance.
  • Each instructor is ADI registered with the DVSA, DBS checked and fully qualified to teach on all manual and automatic vehicles. They are here to help you, so please ask for any additional support you may require.
